Our Story
Hi, I’m Brittany. I am a first generation American, the eldest of seven, and the daughter of a migrant farm worker. I’m also a lawyer, the mother of two girls, and the creator of RooStars.
My parents modeled the importance of enjoying life and caring about others, and that’s something I’ve passed on to my girls. I spent my childhood running around, swimming, riding bikes, and exploring the outdoors, and so I strive to raise my kids to love to get outside and get dirty.
When my girls were little, I realized that underwear made for little girls felt cheap and didn’t fit properly. For all the ruffles and cute colors, girls underwear wasn’t actually that comfortable. It was hard to find underwear that could hold up to biking, running, and rough-housing. The more my girls played, the more uncomfortable they were. So I started sewing comfortable, high-quality underwear for my girls, designed specifically to fit their small active bodies. Before long, I was getting requests from other moms to sew underwear for their girls and I realized that I was onto something big.
Our Mission
When we give our children unconscious messages about who should get dirty and who should be clean, who should get comfortable clothes and who should get pretty ones, we limit their ability to grow, learn, play to the fullest, enjoy the outdoors, and be completely themselves.
At RooStars, our mission is to put comfort before cute. We believe that girlhood is precious. That everybody deserves to be comfortable. That getting dirty is part of the fun. That adventure is meaningful. That kids are happiest when they’re able to be themselves.
